The Duroc breed originated in the Eastern United States and the Corn Belt. It has been suggested that Columbus brought these pigs to America on his second voyage. Duroc pigs have considerable variation in colour, ranging from light golden to very dark red. They are of medium length and have a slightly dished face. Ears should be drooping and not held erect.
