The Large Black is one of Britain's ancient and largest breeds, all black and able to withstand extreme heat and cold.

Such was its popularity that by 1935 it had been exported to over 30 countries.

It is well adapted to foraging and will thrive mainly on grass through the summer.

The colour does not reflect on the skin which scrapes white.
